Visiting the etched stone made me tear up as I have a similar marker in our backyard. Although the sun faded the markings, I still run my finger against the letters.
I love how the words begin to rise and tumble together at the end as the memory of her comes into the poem. It made me tear up and I don't even have a dog!
Congrats on the poem, Nicole. It is beautiful and so relatable to all of us who have lost a pet!
Aww, thank you! Losing pets is the worst.
