Definitely love the idea of literary city guides! Did you have one for Strasbourg by any chance? Going there next week, wondering how best to spend my time there. Perhaps I’ll have to write my own.
From 2016 to 2024, I developed a daily practice of photographing something that intrigued me on a walk. I would then sit down to edit and post the photo on Instagram @placepoet with an accompanying haiku. This act of noticing every day has trained me to do what Matsuo Basho advised, "If you want to know the pine, go to the pine." My first chapbook, "Thirty Views of a Changing World" (Finishing Line Press, 2017) was a collection of some of these haiku and photos. It's a practice I'd recommend to every writer.
Love the idea of reviving the literary city guides! I used them for planning travel, and contributed the Berkshires one many moons ago (which I’d be happy to update when the time comes!). Such a great idea!

This has me thinking about taking up a haiku a day. At least for today, it feels apt. Thank you!
Yes! A daily haiku is such a wonderful practice.

Great to hear that, Julie, thank you!
